Our Dream

Who is crazy enough to open this business of property management and real estate, Katrina and Roxane were in 2008. Rosie the Riveter has been an icon for generations of women because she did her part in helping her country and her community. Even though the world is a different place than it was when Rosie made her debut in the 1940s, she continues to inspire and empower women with the knowledge that they can achieve anything with hard work. It was the thought of Rosie’s strength and determination in their minds that helped give Katrina Blackwell and Roxane Nelson the push they needed to start their Property Management and Real Estate company in 2008. They had no employees, and they had to work side by side out of a tiny, one-room office in Mountain Brook. But, they had a vision that they could help people and make a difference in their community.

 

Honoring our staff

After ten years of business, Katrina and Roxane have turned their two-woman operation into a growing company with over fifteen employees. Blackwell Nelson Companies continues to expand their services with a multitude of divisions inclusive of Home Owner Associations, Multi-Family, Project Management, Real Estate, and Leasing. Our team is the reason why Blackwell Nelson is successful.

While Roxane and Katrina’s vision for their company has expanded in the past decade, they have not forgotten why they started their company in the first place. They continue to strive to help make their communities a better place in hopes of carrying on the legacy Rosie embodies of what it means to be a hard-working woman.

Katrina Blackwell

Principal

Katrina Blackwell is a Principal of Blackwell Nelson with over 29 years of experience in property management. Katrina has expertise in property management for our communities as well as being a licensed Alabama Real Estate Broker for over 20 years.  Katrina oversees all aspects of our communities along with the residential sales and leasing for individuals and investors. Katrina brings an attention to detail that is essential to property management and to the success of our clients.

Roxane Nelson

Principal

Roxane Nelson is a Principal of Blackwell Nelson with over 32  years of experience in property management. Roxane is involved in oversight of all aspects of property management and coordinating the needs of each community. Her background allows her the scope of expertise necessary for overseeing capital improvement projects, residential renovation projects, and maximizing the values for our communities. Roxane brings an experienced background that provides a tremendously positive value to our clients.

Marci Whitaker

Property Management

Marci Whitaker has a lengthy background in human resources and customer relations and over 4 years of property management with  Blackwell Nelson. As a vital element of our team, Marci is involved in all aspects of the operations and primarily coordinates the daily journals and record-keeping aspects of property management.  Marci continually exceeds customer expectations by delivering superior levels of customer service. 

Melissa Parkins

HOA Property Management

Melissa Parkins brings over 17 years of experience in multi-family and HOA property management. As a Property Manager, Melissa handles all aspects of property management with a focus on financial reporting, maintenance, and vendor relations. Melissa’s high level of knowledge and experience is a tremendous value for the communities.

Carolyn Rakers

Customer Relations

Carolyn Rakers is a veteran employee with Blackwell Nelson since 2011. As our Senior HOA Manager, her specialty is customer relations and community events. Carolyn interfaces with the HOA  Board of Directors and Committee Chair Members to oversee all aspects of the day-to-day operations. Carolyn’s unwavering high energy and determination surely brings light to all our clients. 

Amy Jasinski

Customer Relations

Amy Jasinski brings over 10 years of experience in the customer service industry and has been an asset to Blackwell Nelson for over 2 years. As Service Relations Manager, Amy facilitates all aspects of the various requests of our clients and enables the daily maintenance needs of our properties. Her contagious smile and peppy personality is a powerful assets to our team.
